Animal Kingdom

Today’s plan was to spend the day at Animal Kingdom. One disadvantage of the different time zone is that we’re keeping our CST routine, which means we go to bed an hour later and get up an hour later. That makes it difficult to get anywhere early in the morning. We were up at 8:30 am and out the door as quickly as possible, arriving at Animal Kingdom by 10 am. However, by the time we caught the tram to the gates, purchased tickets, rented a wheelchair for me and got moving, it was already 11 am. I have to keep in mind next year that it takes around an hour to get into the parks and we should plan accordingly. (Although with the little ones sleeping so well, I really can’t complain!)

We had a wonderful day at the park. The kids played at the boneyard in DinoLand and then we saw the live performance of “Finding Nemo.” We rode the tricerotops ride twice after lunch and then headed toward Africa. We stopped to see a beautiful barnyard owl and Spencer decided he wanted to stay for the show. The show was fun and included over 20 different species, including an Andean condor, an American bald eagle, a hawk, 2 species of owls, an African crane, a cuckatoo, toucans, macaws and more.

We walked one path and took the jungle safari trip to see lots of animals, including tigers, lions, elephants, okabi, hippos, rhinos, yaks, giraffes and more. As for characters, we saw Goofy and Pluto, but Spence didn’t want to stop for photos. He did take one with Flik and one with Minnie, and we snapped several shots of the characters in the Jungle Jammin’ Parade.

All in all, it was a wonderful day. The temps up until now have been in the low 70’s, but tomorrow it’s supposed to reach 80. We’re looking forward to a relaxing day at the pool soaking up that Florida sunshine!
